Possibility of National Strike in Argentina

The Federation of Workers of the Oilseed Industrial Complex warned about the possibility of a national strike if workers' rights are not respected. In a statement, they denounced that several companies in the oil and biodiesel sector decided to breach collective agreements and lay off employees.

The Secretary General, Daniel Yofra, mentioned a specific case in the company Explorer, which decided not to pay the bonus to its 30 employees, even going so far as to dismiss workers who claimed their salaries according to the law. Yofra criticized the government's lack of sensitivity towards workers and the stance of some companies that do not comply with previously established agreements.

Yofra expressed concern about the lack of compliance with agreements made the previous year, specifically regarding a bonus for all workers, and the lack of adequate salary proposals in the current collective bargaining negotiations. According to the union leader, companies seem to prioritize disciplining workers over their needs.

In light of this situation, the Union of Oil Workers and Employees of San Lorenzo and the Federation of Workers of the Oilseed Industrial Complex warned of a possible national strike due to the non-payment of the bonus agreed upon in December and the lack of progress in sectoral collective bargaining negotiations, which resulted in layoffs in response to workers' protest actions.
